Badaganadu Balaga, Mysore

Our 19^th Annual Day function was held on the 9^th Feb. 2008 at the Rotary West Auditorium. Sri H.N.Ramathirtha, an Industrialist and Vice-Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Mysore was the Chief Guest. We made use of the occasion to recognize the contributions made to the educational field by Prof. K.V.Arkanath, Hon. Secretary of the famous Vidya Vardhaka Institutions of Mysore, by honouring him. Both the guests, in their respective speeches, spoke of the usefulness of small organizations like our Balaga in maintaining the heritage, social and cultural identity of human groups and encouraged us to continue our efforts.

Two Special Scholarships were then awarded - one, in memory of our founder president Sri A.H.Gopal Rao , instituted by his family members to the highest CET ranked Student admitted to NIE, went to Kum.P. Sarayu (487) and the other, recently instituted by our Member Sri G.V.Gurushankar in memory of his parents, to the students with highest marks in the PUC and SSLC Exams of 2006-07 went to Kum. C.S.Sindhu (523/600) and Kumar Bharath S. Ram (597/625) respectively.

As usual, the programme was attended by about 70-80 members in all! Some of them participated actively entertaining the audience with classical and light music and a satirical drama " Fight for a Bridegroom (Gandigaagi guddaata) "was enacted by our Mahila Vibhaga members! Most in the audience were also prize winners at the various competitions held in the previous months and they had to sit till the very end, since prize distribution was the last item on the list of events!
