Bhoomi Puja & Sathyanarayana Puja Print E-mail

The weather had been threatening with daily late-evening showers but fortunately for us, it took a welcome respite on 26th morning and did not affect the arrangements made with a Shamiana put up for the gathering on the northern side. The ground itself had been cleared of shrubs and the exact location of the proposed building marked on the southern side.

Sri C.H.Vijayashankar, MP, arrived almost on time, along with the other Chief Guests, Sri H.S.Shankaralinge Gowda, MLA, Sri A.Ramadas, Former MLA and Sri M.V.Ravishankar, Chairman, Mysore Lacs & Paints. President Sri Subramanyam and  Members of the Executive Committee received and escorted them to the marked area. Since the religious part of the Bhoomi Puja had already been started by our VP Sri Krishnaswamy Rao and Smt. Annapurnamma, the practical part of turning over the earth at the north-east corner of the marked area was taken up without any delay. All the dignitaries put in some hard work, which was witnessed by the 70-odd Members who attended the function.

Back under the Shamiana and on the stage, invocation by Smt. Vasantha Venkatesh marked the auspicious beginning followed by a brief welcome by Sri Krishnaswamy Rao and Sri Subramanyam. Each of the dignitaries then spoke on the importance of developing educational, social and cultural activities for the upliftment of not only the Badaganadu Community but also the public at large. Emphasis was also laid on the speedy completion of the building for which assurances of help were made to the best possible extent as the building work progresses.

Before their departure, each of the dignitaries planted a cherry-tree sapling and then the  stage was taken over by the Puja enthusiasts who re-decorated it appropriately. The Puja itself was performed by Smt. Uma and Sri Shivanand with great religious fervour. A large number of Members had contributed towards the Puja separately and it was a wonderful sight to see them come forward to make this a success and seek blessings of the Lord for themselves and the Balaga too!

After the Puja ceremonies and while waiting to have lunch, donations for the Building Fund were received as detailed below:

At the same time, Smt. Indiramma announced a donation of Rs. 5000 towards the Education Fund for granting an annual Student Fellowship in memory of Late Sri Nanjappa.

The function concluded with a brief Vote of Thanks to all Members for their cooperation. Some photos elsewhere on the website will give you an idea of the site and its environment. A small handy Brochure brought out for the occasion is also reproduced there and provides information on the estimated cost of the project, suggestions for sending any contributions, account number at the Bank, etc.

With the building work thus started, our fund-raising activity is expected to gain momentum. Without your cooperation and active participation, it will remain only a distant dream. Please come forward and help us in realizing it within a short period of an year or so.
