Badaganadu Balaga Newsletter - April 2007

Dear All,

The month of April has been quite a busy month for us and we have several news items to report to you. As always, we would like to thank you for your support. It is your generous contributions that make these events happen.

Haasya Sanje collections reach Rs.1,50,000!

Haasya Sanje at Jaganmohana Palace Mysore The month started off with the long-awaited Haasya Sanje programme on the aptly chosen All Fools Day! The Artists Sri Mysore Anand, Sri Narasimha Murthy, Sri Richard Louis and Sri Asadullah Beig lived up to their reputation and regaled the almost full-house at Jaganmohana Palace Auditorium. As to the collection from the Haasya Sanje programme, well, it went much beyond our expectations! After all expenses, we are crediting a tidy sum of approximately Rs. 1,50,000 to our Building Fund account! More on the event and some photos...

International Women's Day

Another event that engaged chiefly members of our Mahila Vibhaga (Ladies' wing) was the observation of International Women's Day on the 15th April. For the second year in succession, this event has been observed by inviting some successful lady as the Chief Guest to speak on the changing role of women in the emerging world. This time it was Prof. K. Sudha Rao, Vice-Chancellor of the Karnataka State Open University in Mysore. More details here.

Nadige Shankar Wins... again!

Our ever-young Secretary Sri N.R.Shankara Rao, 78 years old, seems to be never tired of winning Gold in Athletic Meets arranged for Seniors at the State and National levels. Details may be seen in our website. Congrats Nadige Shankar, keep it up!

About the Badaganadu Bhawan Site

A small Buildings Committee under the Chairmanship of Sri B.N.Prabhakar has been authorized to start the fencing work initially to safeguard the site against encroachment. It has also been decided to invite all our Members to attend a Sathyanarayana Puja to be performed at the site by putting up a shamiyana! Well, not a bad idea to have an auspicious beginning and it originated from our Prof. M.A.Chandrasekhar, who donated Rs.1000 towards expenses and the couple also agreed to perform the Puja! Quite naturally, others also chipped in and we have a tidy sum at our disposal. The exact date is yet to be decided and we will let you know, if you also like to join in!

Donors' List for the month

Once again, we express our heartfelt thanks to all of them and look forward to have more of their type! A complete list of Donors is available at our website. Do kindly visit our site and advise your friends and relatives also to come to our aid.

Well, on that happy note, I conclude this month's Newsletter and request you once again to join us in the ensuing fund-raising plans.

With best wishes,

Yours truly,

Dr. Y. Narayana Rao
