Indoor / Outdoor Sports Events
As already announced, the Outdoor Sports were conducted for all age groups on the 7th January at the Hardwick High School grounds and the Indoor Sports on 21st January at the Mahila Sadana Building on Narayana Sastry Road. Both the events were well attended by Members and their families. The contests were keen in all the age groups and, thankfully, almost every participant won some prize or the other. The spirit was to participate and not necessarily to win! Read more and see photographs here.
Annual Day Celebrations
But the most important event of the month was the Annual Day Celebration on 4th February 2007 at the Rotary West Auditorium with an Invocation of Lord's Blessings by Smt. Annapurna Gundappa. Sri K.V.Murthy, an Industrialist, Rotarian and Head of Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha was the Chief Guest and he spoke appreciatively of the broadmindedness of the Balaga in honouring non-Badaganadu people of the Society as well. Being himself an excellent organizer and fundraiser, he gave some useful tips as to how go about raising funds for the building that is being planned. He implored each of the 600 odd members of the Balaga to get actively involved in this venture by donating at least Rs. 1000, and on his part, spontaneously contributed Rs. 5000, for which we are immensely grateful. Read more about this event and see photographs here.
Republic Day Celebrations
On the Republic Day, 26th January 2007, we hosted a day's lunch for the 50 odd destitute children under the care of the Bapuji Children's Home and Trust at Gokulam and also presented a few clothes. The gesture was highly appreciated by them and we have agreed to revert to them some time later with more clothes. Click here for detailed information and photographs.
MUDA Site Registered!
At long last, it is in our possession - the MUDA site was registered in the Balaga's name on Monday the 22nd January and the Possession Certificate issued on the 1st February.
The efforts put in by our Member Sri B.N.Prabhakar are indeed worthy of being remembered by all of us. He has also prepared a tentative plan for the construction of the Badaganadu Bhawan Complex, which was put up for comments by the Members during the Annual Day Celebrations. It elicited valuable suggestions, which will be taken up by the Executive Committee before finalisation. The Registration charges have cut into our Building Fund collection to the extent of Rs. 80,000, which we have to raise again for the second installment.
