[WE APOLOGIZE FOR SENDING THIS NEWSLETTER OUT TWICE. WE RECEIVED WORD THAT SEVERAL OF YOU DIDN'T RECEIVE IT THE FIRST TIME]
Dear Readers of BBM Newsletters,
First, we wanted to brief you about our 19th Annual Day function, which was held on the 9th Feb. 2008 at the Rotary West Auditorium. Sri H.N.Ramathirtha, an Industrialist and Vice-Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Mysore was the Chief Guest. We made use of the occasion to recognize the contributions made to the educational field by Prof. K.V.Arkanath, Hon. Secretary of the famous Vidya Vardhaka Institutions of Mysore, by honouring him. Both the guests, in their respective speeches, spoke of the usefulness of small organizations like our Balaga in maintaining the heritage, social and cultural identity of human groups and encouraged us to continue our efforts. Read more and see photographs here.
A second and more important reason for the delay is the thought of discontinuing this monthly news letter altogether, since it has not been successful in evoking the kind of response, interaction or assistance in fund-raising activity that we had anticipated when we started this service about an year and 4 months ago!
And there is a third reason as well. Now that we are posting a Kannada Newsletter every month, this newsletter on the website has become a repetitive activity, though with readership of a different kind. Moreover, most of our members are not serious about looking up the website, being not computer-savvy despite our efforts to change such a situation!
We are therefore contemplating to keep the website alive but make the BBMNL service a quarterly, a bi-annual or even an annual matter. Is there any other choice before us? Kindly advice! We will keep you informed of the progress of the Badaganadu Bhavana construction and also keep the Donor List current at irregular intervals. OK?
We had not reported anything on the Building front sine the excavation work had been hampered and the work temporarily halted by the rocky nature of the soil encountered. It has since been resumed and we hope to show you some progress in our next Newsletter.
We had also not updated our Donors List in our January Newsletter and so, here it is:
