A hearty welcome to our Second Year's First Newsletter! Hopefully, we have kept you adequately informed of our activities spread over the last year and we certainly hope to keep up the same this year too - with your support, naturally!

Matrimonial Assistance Bureau

As already indicated in one of our earlier Newsletters, we have taken up the task of helping our members and, through them, other members of public by starting a Matrimonial Assistance Bureau. This will initially function 2 days a week for 2 hours and will establish a Databank to be made accessible through paid subscription. Further details may be obtained from our Secretary Sri Shashidhar (shashidharasha@yahoo.com). Depending on the response, we will consider expanding its activities.

Kannada Newsletter

Our next new venture this year is the start of a Newsletter Service in Kannada to be mailed to all the members, so that up-to-date information of the Balaga's activities reaches them at their doorstep! This was found desirable since many of our members are neither computer-savvy nor have ready access to Internet. By this means, we hope to reach them more readily and appeal for their cooperation, help and suggestions instead of waiting for the Annual General Body Meeting or any other gathering of all members.

Upcoming Events

Last but not least important is the start of a One-day Workshop on Computer Awareness, initially for the benefit of our lady members. At least 5 ladies will be trained on accessing the Internet and send/receive emails by our Members Smt Asha and Sri Shashidhar. We thank them for their dedication to the Balaga's cause and for offering their office premises for this workshop.

The Annual Indoor Sports Meet is fixed for the 18^th November at the Samathentho premises and will be coupled with the Music and Arts Competitions this time. Our Mahila Vibhaga is in charge of these activities. The Outdoor Sports will be held on the 9^th December at the Rotary West School premises. All the Members are requested to come and participate.

Our indomitable Nadige Shankar is once again making news! This time he is to go to Japan with 14 other Indians selected for the 2007 International Gold Master Championships being held only for the 60+ age group at Wyokiyama during 24^th-25^th November. We all wish him good luck, first with the visa and then for his success once again!

Badaganadu Bhavana Building Project

On the Badaganadu Bhavana Building front, the site fencing work is over and excavation work for the foundation will be taken up in November-December after approval is received from the Town Planning Authority. Funds are still inadequate and our resources last only for part of the Building. Contributions received this month are listed below but the entire list of donors so far is available at our website: www.bbmysore.org.

Our heartfelt thanks to all these donors, many of them non-members, for this wonderful gesture. We require contributions on a still larger scale to ensure that the building work progresses uninterruptedly. Please visit our web site to learn about contribution options.

Incidentally, we are glad to announce that the long-awaited grant of Rs. 3 lakhs from the local MP Sri C.H.Vijayashankar's fund has since been released and will enable us to start the foundation work from mid-November. A second release is assured by the end of the year when we expect to see some substantial progress of the work. A big Thank You to you, Sir!
