Badaganadu Balaga Newsletter - Aug 2007

This month's newsletter has been slightly delayed but it has acquired some "august" credentials, since it has more than one major event to report! The first was the Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) with election of New Office-bearers on the 5^th, the second was the Annual Ashadha Lakshmi Puja on the 10^th and last, but not least, and most importantly, the "Bhoomi Puja" for the proposed Badaganadu Bhavana building on the 26^th. Since each of them is of great significance to the Balaga, let me take them up one after another.

The Annual General Body Meeting

It was held on Sunday the 5^th August at 10 a.m. at the Udupi Sri Krishna Mandira premises with our President Sri G.S.Subramanyam in the chair. As usual, the attendance at the start was thin but picked up towards the end! Invocation rendered by Smt. Rathnamma Hanumantha Rao was followed by the Vice-President Sri C.S.Krishnaswamy Rao welcoming all the Members and their families.

The Ashadha Lakshmi Puja

Members of our Mahila Vibhaga took a great deal of interest in arranging this annual Puja at the Samathentho premises. Attended by well over 50 persons, our VP Sri C.S.Krishnaswamy Rao took over the Purohit's role and got the Puja performed to everyone's satisfaction!

Incidentally, our former President Sri N.Shivaram donated a sum of Rs. 1000 towards the Building Fund on this occasion! Thank you Sir...you have always been so kind!

The Bhoomi Puja & Sathyanarayana Puja functions

The weather had been threatening with daily late-evening showers but fortunately for us, it took a welcome respite on 26^th morning and did not affect the arrangements made with a Shamiana put up for the gathering on the northern side. The ground itself had been cleared of shrubs and the exact location of the proposed building marked on the southern side.

Donations for Aug 2007

August has been a good month for us. Due to the various activities several of our members have come out and donated generously to the Building Fund and the Education Fund.

With the building work thus started, our fund-raising activity is expected to gain momentum. Without your cooperation and active participation, it will remain only a distant dream. Please come forward and help us in realizing it within a short period of an year or so.
