Donations received from varied sources

E-mail Print

We have continued to receive donations from several Donors and Well-wishers - Members and Non-Members alike – and their names are listed elsewhere. However, it is interesting to see that our major donors happen to be mostly non- members! This time it is our all-time Well-wisher and Minister for Medical Education and Sri S.A.Ramadas, who came to our aid with a grant of Rs.2 lakhs!

In addition, several Members have come up with Interest-Free-Loans (IFL) of varying amounts, which entitle the Balaga to utilize such sums for construction work, and is free of interest for a period of 3 years. Thereafter, the Balaga is committed to either return the amount in agreed number of installments or pay interest at nominal rates.

In one particular case of intense involvement, it is most gratifying to report that the family members of our Founder-President Late Sri A.H.Gopal Rao – his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren – have come up with a contribution of up to Rs. 1.60 lakhs, enough for the construction of 2 rooms for needy students. Is it not an idea worthy of emulation by a few more members’ families?

Main Hall and Cellar portions are about 80% ready

E-mail Print

The Main Hall and Cellar portions are about 80% ready and our offices have been operating from this Building since July 2011. All doors, windows are in position, granite flooring of the Main Hall and the cellar (including a kitchenette, wash room and toilet) is completed. Electrical wiring of the entire building is over, with lights and fans ready to be fitted. Water supply and plumbing works are ready to be commissioned as soon as permission is granted by the local authorities. Staircase room and steps right from Cellar to the present roof of the building have also been granite- paved and ready for use. A recent photo taken at the time of the 22nd Annual General Body Meeting in June 2011 should give you an idea of the progress we have been talking of.

But then what is holding us up from 100% completion of the Building? Funds, funds and funds, that is all! There is a serious shortage of incoming funds and work can go on only in bits and pieces, so to speak! And that is where you, as our site-visitor, please help us by donating generously!

We have a basement/cellar!!

E-mail Print

As you can see from the accompanying photos, the roof of the cellar portion has been cast and after a 3week-long period of curing, facilitated by intermittent rains, the centering has also been removed. Next thing is to build the walls for the cellar and we have a "roof on our heads"! Whether or not we will be able to build the main hall above the cellar, we are determined to have the next Annual General Body Meeting in our own premises - tentatively, on the 9th November 2008!
